Feminist magazine Feminist Times announced its final issue today, after financial shortcomings brought it to a halt. Less than a year after being launched, Charlotte Raven’s project has issued a last email to members declaring the end of the publication. The magazine – imagined as a relaunch of infamous feminist spread Spare Rib – always stood proud of paying its writers similar rates to other mainstream publications. However – despite crowdfunding and somewhat steep membership rates – Feminist Times seems to have gone bust. “We simply cannot survive any longer without having to change our values”, the team writes in the email out. “Other projects like ours allow themselves to be co-opted by a big brand or not pay contributors. We would not be happy to do either.” The closure marks the end of yet another left-leaning project.
